About Our Outreach Services

Senior Living Facility Services

Outreach Services staff bring books, DVDs, audio books, and other library items to senior living facilities with two different monthly services:

  • Deposit Collection: Each month, a delivery is made which includes 40 large print books, 5 audio books, and 5 DVDs. Activities directors decide where to display the items so all residents have access to library materials.  Items are checked out to the facility’s library account.
  • Lobby Stop Service:  Staff visit senior living communities for one hour, providing large print books, DVDs, audio books, magazines, and more for residents to conveniently browse for library material without leaving the facility.  Residents can register for a new library account on site, request specific items, retrieve holds, and check out materials. Items are checked out to an individual’s library account.

 Traveling Storytime Service

Conducted at area preschools, daycares, and by special request, monthly storytimes include interactive stories, songs, finger plays, puppets and various movement activities for young children. During the summer months, Stories in the Parks is offered on the Bookmobile, in addition to Stories at the Zoo at Phillips Park Zoo. Please contact us for more information.

Home Delivery

Did you know the Aurora Public Library District offers free home delivery? This service is open to ALL Aurora residents regardless of circumstance. You may be especially interested in this service if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Temporary or permanent disability
  • Health conditions that limit your mobility
  • Lack of transportation
  • Caregiving responsibilities that limit your ability to visit library branches

To sign up for home delivery, please call 630-723-2705. You can then request library items anytime by placing holds via the library website or by phone. When your holds are available, a staff member will call to schedule the delivery date and time. Deliveries are no-contact, so items will be checked out, bagged, and left at your front door.
