Join us to learn about a chapter of our shared Aurora history! Local historian Zachary Bishop will explore the actions Aurora residents took to combat slavery before the Civil War.

Join local historian Zachary Bishop as he shares the powerful stories of Aurora abolitionists who advocated for the end of slavery and helped enslaved Black Americans seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad before the Civil War.

Zachary Bishop is a historian and museum professional whose current research focuses on the history of Kane and DuPage Counties. He is currently working on projects about the history of the Underground Railroad, housing discrimination, and the LGBTQ community in the area.
