Eola Road Branch

Meeting Room 166

Trauma-informed, self-defense instructor Lindsey Daehnke from Strictly Self-Defense will teach basic self-defense skills and techniques, including situational awareness, escaping grabs/holds, & more.

This self-defense program is designed for ages 11-18 and focuses on practical self-defense techniques that are easy to remember and apply. We'll also explore awareness strategies- helping participants understand their surroundings and identify potential threats before they escalate. This blend of physical skills and mental preparedness may help participants know how to respond in tricky situations and possibly avoid them altogether.

Instructor Lindsey Daehnke is passionate about empowering our community with the tools they need to stay safe. Attendees will be introduced to basic physical self-defense skills and techniques focusing on three key areas: Mindset, Skill Set, and Planning. Specific topics may include Situational Awareness, Bystander Intervention, Healthy/Unhealthy Relationships, Simple Effective Strikes, How to Escape Common Grabs, and much more.

All topics will be presented at an age-appropriate level for those in attendance. The purpose of the training is to empower the attendees with the life skill of self-defense.

All attendees must have a signed electronic waiver on file in order to participate. Library staff will send the waiver via email to all registered participants.

Registration will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 27.
