What Is Qigong?
Qigong is a ancient Chinese mind and body practice that is mostly used for healing. It’s a simple standing meditation with very gentle hands movements that relaxes the body and mind. Qigong involves whole-body movement, mind focus, and deep breathing that opens body’s energy pathways, promotes smooth energy flow and restores organ harmony. It is also an excellent practice for anti-aging. Qigong is also called “Moving Meditation,” which benefits body, mind, and spirit.
What Is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is an internal martial art that is now mostly practiced as a meditation and used for its health benefits. It involves a series of slow, meditative body movements that were originally designed for self-defense and now used to improve balance, coordination, health, and supports healing, relaxation and disease prevention. Tai Chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels. In fact, because Tai Chi is a low-impact exercise, it may be especially suitable if you’re an older adult who otherwise may not exercise.
What Should I Wear?
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. As a meditation class, we will practice relaxation and movement. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible.
What Should I Expect?
We will be standing the entire time. If you have difficulty standing, a chair will be made available to you. As it is a meditation class, please turn off your cell phone and try to avoid any distractions. Other than that, come with open mind and open heart.
