Join Gary Swick, President of Friends of the Fox River, to learn about "The Fox," the local activist who took on industrial polluters and fought for the health of the Fox River 60 years ago.
"The Fox" is a local legend who brought environmental justice to polluters from the 1960s-1980s. Our presenter, Gary Swick, knew him personally and is now President of the Friends of the Fox River. He'll share the story of this local hero, including many examples of his activism right here in the Fox Valley, in Chicago, and even internationally. The story of the Fox is more than his infamous escapades; it provides insight into what creates environmental heroes, what motivates action, and what role education plays in creating change. We'll also explore how it relates to all of us living in 21st century Aurora. Are you a kindred spirit of The Fox?
Join us in person at Santori Library in Room 125/126 or virtually via Zoom! Passcode: Foxriver
The program is part of Aurora on the Fox, a year-long event series centered on the Fox River. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate, investigate, and connect with our river and the places we share.
