Parents, come and learn about tools and tips on how to navigate your children's college readiness process with confidence. Ages 11+ and their caregivers.

Preparing for college is a journey that begins early, and for first-generation students, parental support can make all the difference. This session is designed specifically for parents to learn how they can actively support their high school students, starting as early as freshman year, in navigating the college process with confidence.

This presentation is organized into four key areas: staying motivated through challenges, standing out through academics and extracurriculars, exploring the right college fit, and understanding financial aid options. Whether parents are new to the process or looking to get more involved, this session provides practical tools and guidance to support their child every step of the way.

About the presenter:

Claudia Aly, Parent Outreach Coordinator at the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), has been at ISAC since December of 2019. ISAC is the college access and financial aid agency in the State of Illinois that administers programs to help pay for college. Before joining ISAC, Claudia worked in healthcare and for many years she volunteered in different organizations assisting the community, specifically worked with Spanish speaking population in the Chicago area and near suburbs. Born and raised in Mexico until the age of 18, first-generation college graduate with a degree in Science and a Minor in Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys painting and spending time with family.
