In the second part of the 2026 Financial Fitness series, the organization Open Communities (OC) will discuss home ownership and buying. Owning a home takes a lot of time, money, and energy, so not only is it important to be educated about the process, but also about home ownership. This course covers what a lender looks for in a loan application, credit basics, down payments, and the players in the home buying process.
Open Communties is a 501(c)(3) organization that works to eradicate housing discrimination and unjust practices that perpetuate segregation and inequity. More information about the organization can be found on their website: www.open-communities.org/
Financial Fitness 2025 is free 3-part financial literacy series presented by BIG (Business Interest Group), a group of business librarians in the Chicago suburbs. In support of the libraries’ mission of providing access to reliable information, these virtual programs offer practical tips and advice from experienced financial advisors. Attending all 3 parts of the series is not required. The series is virtual only.

This branch shares the Eola Community Center buiding with the Fox Valley Park District. It offers a quiet reading room with a fireplace, study rooms and a family computer lab. The Eola Road Branch has public meeting rooms that may be used for community programs.
