This 5 session series will teach students the fundamentals of staying safe and responsible in the digital world. Presented by a Meta Valley High School student. For students entering grades 6-8.

Monday, June 8: Cybersecurity Basics
Students will learn what cybersecurity is, why it matters, and how it protects people, devices, accounts, and personal information. They will also learn the difference between hackers, ethical hackers, and cyber defenders.

Tuesday, June 9: Passwords & Account Security
Students will learn how attackers guess weak passwords, what makes a password strong, and how tools like two-factor authentication help protect accounts.

Wednesday, June 10: Phishing & Online Scams
Students will learn how scammers trick people through fake emails, texts, websites, and messages. They will practice spotting warning signs like suspicious links, urgency, fake prizes, and requests for personal information.

Thursday, June 11: Encryption & Secret Codes
Students will learn how encryption protects information by turning messages into secret codes. They will explore simple ciphers and understand why encryption is used in apps, websites, and online communication.

Friday, June 12: Ethical Hacking & Cyber Challenges
Students will learn what ethical hacking means and why permission is important. They will review the week’s topics through a fun cyber challenge or escape-room-style activity involving passwords, phishing, codes, and online safety.
