Meeting Room 125/126 Combined

Researchers from Argonne National Laboratory will explore how AI works, what it is (and what it isn't), and share new insights on how AI is transforming how research is done.

Speakers:
Bethany Lusch is a computer scientist in the AI/Machine Learning group at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility. Her research includes developing methods and tools to integrate AI with science. Her recent work includes developing machine-learning emulators to replace expensive parts of simulations, such as computational fluid dynamics simulations of engines and climate simulations.

Christopher Knight is a computational scientist at Argonne, leading efforts in materials and chemistry research. His team uses AI-enabled supercomputers to develop cutting-edge simulations that help solve complex scientific challenges across multiple disciplines.

Gillian King-Cargile (moderator) is a science communicator at Argonne, where she partners with scientists to tell powerful stories about groundbreaking research and the discoveries shaping our future. She’s also an author of books for children and adults that explore science and imagination.
