Help your child grow into a lifelong reader! Join us for a special storytime, craft, snacks, and an introduction to the library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Folks will have the opportunity to learn more and register for the program during the event.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a simple, self-paced challenge for newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The goal is to read 1,000 books together before your child begins kindergarten. Reading with young children supports early literacy, builds skills that prepare them for school, and creates meaningful opportunities for bonding.
Every book counts—including books read more than once, books shared at library storytimes, and books read by siblings or other caregivers. Record each book on your reading log and visit the library to celebrate milestones and receive prizes along the way. Reading just one book a day adds up to more than 1,000 books in three years!
