Erika with a “K” is a queer Latina poet, humanitarian, activist, student, teacher and dreamer. She is the daughter of immigrants. She was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL finished high school in El Paso, TX, and lived in Mexico as an adult for 10 years. She works full time for a non-profit focused on youth violence prevention. She has traveled all over the country sharing her poetry and story in English and Spanish to educate, empower and encourage youth and adults to help prevent violence. Her experience with racism, discrimination, hate and violence have made her determined to do everything she can to end it. She is passionate about people, making a difference and leaving a legacy of love.
