Join Dr. Frederick Gooding as he explores the history of African-American representation at the Academy Awards. Have widespread calls for diversity increased the number of Black nominees/winners?
What depictions of African-Americans has the Academy rewarded? How does this reflect (or not reflect) our society? Watch on Zoom or Facebook Live!
Dr. Gooding is an Associate Professor of African-American Studies at Texas Christian University and the author of the book Black Oscars - From Mammy to Minny, What the Academy Awards Tell Us About African Americans.
