Eola Road Branch
Enjoy a display of Ukrainian egg-inspired artwork by local students inside the Eola Road Branch.
Educator Bonny Ramirez created this project as a celebration of SPRING. This year, to pay homage and bring hope to the Ukrainian population during this difficult time of unrest, young Artists from Benavides STEAM Academy, Oak Park Elementary School, and Hermes Elementary School have created their own digital version of Pysanky Ukrainian eggs inscribed with vibrant lines, rich colors, and cheerful patterns.
Students read the story P. Zonka Lays an Egg by Julie Paschkis to remind us to persevere as we seek beauty in the darkness that may surround us. The artists also used a Watercolor Crayon Resist technique in class to mimic the Batik Resist process while exploring the history of Pysanky Ukrainian folk designs.
This collection of egg-inspired artwork will be on display inside the Eola Road Branch through April 30.
