Hidden Warriors: An Analysis on Women in the U.S. Military

In collaboration with the G.A.R. Military Museum's exhibit, “Hidden Warriors: The History of Women in the U.S. Military,” we'll explore the specifics of the major feats of women in the U.S. military.

Join Elizabeth Moreno of Aurora's own G.A.R. Museum to discuss the evolving roles of women in the U.S. military from the Civil War through to the 21st Century, and enjoy some light refreshments!

We'll dissect the roles in which women were traditionally expected to fulfill and discuss the military’s process of integrating women into combat roles. In collaboration with the G.A.R. Military Museum's exhibit “Hidden Warriors: The History of Women in the U.S. Military,” the presentation will explore the specifics of the major feats of women in the U.S. military. Where possible, it will make connections to Aurora women who have served in the military or prominent military organizations.

The Grand Army of the Republic Military Museum, located in Aurora, Illinois, collects, preserves, interprets and honors the history of the wartime and subsequent peacetime experience of the community and its veterans throughout the history of the United States.

In addition to being offered in-person at Santori Library, this program will be offered virtually via Zoom and Facebook LIVE @APLibraryIL.
