Ever find yourself wondering what time it is? The sun can tell you that! In honor of the upcoming solar eclipse, we will be making sundials that really work! Grades 6 - 12.
There are many types of sundials- where you are on Earth and the time of year will affect how they work. We will be making horizontal sundials that work all year round! Templates will be provided, and everyone will get a chance to experiment and learn some interesting things like: Does the sun really rise and set due east and due west? Why are days longer in the summer and shorter in the winter? Why is it hotter in the summer than the winter? Why do the hands on clocks go clockwise?
Come find out for yourself, or just make your own wooden sundial to take home! No experience is needed, and all materials will be provided.
