 Public Computing

Where are the computers located?

At Santori Library, you can find our public computers in the second-floor lab. At West Branch, public computers are located on tables in the center of the library. At Eola Road Branch, public computers can be found in the computer lab across the hall from the main library.

Do I need a library card? 

Library cards are not needed to use public computers! Guest passes are available in all public computer labs. 

Can I make a computer reservation in advance? 

Computer sessions are on a first-come, first-serve basis and cannot be made in advance. 

How long is my computer session? 

Computer sessions are unlimited in length at all locations.

Is food/drink allowed? 

Covered non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the computer labs but must be kept on the floor and away from all electronic equipment. Food is not allowed in the computer lab but neat, pre-packaged snacks can be consumed in the study rooms and other quiet study areas. No hot, odorous, or messy food of any kind is allowed in the library. 

Am I allowed to extend my session? 

Computer sessions at Santori Library can be extended by up to 30 additional minutes. If you require more time, please speak with the Digital Services Assistant when beginning your session to request an additional extension.  

Are there outlets available nearby? 

Convenient power outlets can be found in all study rooms and along the laptop bar in our Santori Library computer lab. 

Is there wi-fi in all the rooms? 

Wi-fi is freely available in all Aurora Public Library District buildings! Please use the network name AuroraPublicLibrary and the password yourlibrary. 

How do I print? 

Documents can be printed directly via the public computers or wirelessly using your own mobile device. Please see the wireless printing options here

How much does it cost to print? 

Printing is $0.10 per page for black and white jobs and $0.50 per page for color jobs. Please note that each side of a sheet of paper is one page. 

Can I print using my own paper? 

No, only library-supplied paper can be used in the public printers. Paper is offered in 8.5x11” Letter and 8.5x14” Legal sizes. For irregularly-sized print jobs, please consider making a Makerspace appointment. 

Can I pay using a credit or debit card? 

Yes, credit and debit cards are acceptable as payment. Please note that your card will be charged a hold of $5 for print jobs. Any unused balances will be credited back to your account, typically within 1-2 business days. 

Can I bring guests with me? 

Yes, you can bring guests with you to the computer lab. Seating is limited, and customers are asked not to take chairs away from the public computers. Please remember that all room capacity requirements must be obeyed if you plan to use a study room. Your group may not obstruct movement through the computer lab.

What if computers are unavailable? 

If all public computers are occupied, 2 hour chromebooks are available to check out with a library card to use in-house or consider using a 15-minute Express Station. You can also print wirelessly via your own mobile device. Remember that the library buildings and parking lots all have complimentary wi-fi. 

Do the computers have a disc drive? 

No, the public computers do not have a disc drive. Drives capable of playing CD-ROMs and DVDs can be checked out at the circulation desk. 

What are the available programs? 

The public computers have internet browsers (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox), the Microsoft Office suite, and programs which allow you to view photos and videos. 

Can I install programs on the computers? 

No, new programs cannot be installed on the public computers. If you are looking to play a video game that is unavailable on our public computers, please visit our eSports lab. If you require specialized software in order to take an online exam, you are welcome to reserve a study room and use a personal device. 

Do you offer computers with Zoom capability for virtual meetings? 

We recommend checking out a Chromebook and reserving a study room in order to attend virtual meetings from the library. 

Does the library offer scanning and faxing services? 

Yes, a combined scan and fax machine is available for use in the computer lab. Scanning and faxing services are free.
