How to participate

  1. Register online OR pick up a log at any APLD location starting Friday, December 1.  If you've never used Beanstack before, you can create an account now! 

  2. Have fun this winter by playing bingo with us! When you get bingo, come in to collect a cheerful prize. 

  3. For an added challenge, see if you can complete ALL the activities! (No extra prize awarded)

Winter Reading Adventure Kick Off  
Friday, December 1 from 6-8 p.m.  
Santori Library - Atrium 
Sign up for our Winter Reading Adventure, meet and sing along with Anna & Elsa, take a photo in front of our greenscreen, decorate a luminaria bag, enjoy a snowball treat, and more! Activities and treats will be available while supplies last.

Warm up with winter and diverse holiday stories. For children of all ages and their caregivers.

Let's make a wreath! Colors will be available for a Christmas wreath or a Kwanzaa wreath or use any colors to create your own special wreath. Ages 2-6 with caregiver.
 
Posada Celebration 
Saturday, December 9 at 1 p.m. 
West Branch – West Meeting Room  
Celebrate this traditional Mexican holiday at the library. We’ll enjoy stories, food and share a piñata! For children of all ages and their caregivers. 
 
Homeschool Huddle: Clay Creations   
Tuesday, December 12 at 2 PM 
Santori Library- Rm 125/126 
Create a holiday ornament with Air Dry Clay! All materials provided. Grade levels 1-5. Drop-in. 
 
Hanukkah Craft**  
Tuesday, December 12 at 4 p.m. 
Eola Road Branch-Children's Program Room 
Create a drinking straw dreidel. We will be using hot glue guns. Ages 7 and up. 
 
Winter Gnome Craft

With cardboard tubes, yarn, and paper we will create some fun winter friends. Ages 6-11. 
 
Snowman Name Craft**

Don't want to get cold making a snowman outside? Join us to make a snowman craft that spells your own name! For ages 5+, a caregiver is required for children younger than 7 years old.

Ice Fairy Storytime

The Ice Fairy will visit our library for this magical winter storytime! We'll read stories, sing songs, and stay to take photos with the Ice Fairy. For all ages. 
 
Ugly Sweater Cookie Decorating Contest**

Wear your ugly sweater and decorate an ugly sweater cookie. Vote for the ugliest cookie! All materials provided. Ages 6-11.

¡Los Reyes Magos quieren mandar cartas a sus pequeños en casa! Registre a su hijo/hija para recibir una carta personalizada de parte de los Reyes Magos por correo. Haga un registro por niño/niña. 
 
Salt Painting for Littles**

Toddlers and preschoolers, bring your grown up and paint a winter scene using salt and paints. For kids ages 2-5 with a caregiver.

Master the art of snacking! We will make a fun, sweet or salty snack each month. In December, we will decorate wild gingerbread people. Ages 6-11. Ticketed Program. 
 
Winter Watercolor Painting**

Let's keep warm indoors and have some fun making our own watercolor painting! Keep it or give it to someone you love this holiday season! For ages 4+, a caregiver is required for kids younger than 7 years old.

Play just 1 game or stay for an hour. Take a free book for every game you win. All families with children welcome. 
 
Paper Plate New Years Eve Noisemaker

Want to make a craft to help celebrate the new year? Drop in from 1-3 p.m. to make your own paper plate noisemaker for New Years Eve!

A very cool show with lots of surprises, loud noises and some fun facts about the extreme cold. Tickets will be available at the Children's Reference desk 30 minutes prior to the event.   
 
Snowperson Craft**

What can you do with a hot glue gun, a Styrofoam ball and felt? Create a snowperson of course! Ages 10-13.
