More about DANZANTES UNIDOS MITOTILIZTLI (DANCERS UNITED MITOTILIZTLI):

We are a traditional Azteca-Chichimeca Danza Group, formed by individuals from different Native American cultural traditions and united in 'danza'.

Mitotiliztli in Nahuatl (Aztec language) means danza! It means movement and sound. It is the fiesta, the ritual, the celebration focusing in developing spiritual self-awareness. It is the joy of expressing your spirituality through Danza. In Pre-Hispanic times in Mesoamerica, there was a vast array of celebrations and Mitotiliztli was an essential part of it.

The focus of our group is two-fold. On one hand, it is the presentation to the public of our rich cultural heritage through the performance of “Danzas Aztecas” and the display of our traditional customs and rhythms. The Second is the discovery, study and revival of the ancient wisdom and traditions that have been forcibly suppressed by the dominant cultures and therefore forgotten by the subjugated Indigenous groups.

Our ancestral American Indian heritage and wisdom teach how-to live-in harmony with Nature, our Peers, Ourselves and the Cosmos. We, as pilgrims in the “Red Road” have made it our mission to investigate and Rediscover the ancient ways and grow with our roots deep in the past in order to live firmly in our present, and hence flourish into a better future for ourselves and humanity as a whole.
